My patent addresses a widespread and urgent need. It should be out in the marketplace already, helping millions of grateful people. However, I don’t have the personality/resources to promote it properly. What do you recommend? Thanks.
Depending on the resources you need to complete your patent, I’d look for a venture capitalist or business investor. Usually an investor will see what resources will be required to get a better return on his investment, and can bring those resources to the table.
Otherwise, you can come up with your own marketing strategy for bringing this product to the market, and then freelance out the resources you need – such as a sales force/sales strategy, marketing strategy, advertising strategy, artwork, packaging, etc.
Be sure to have anyone involved sign a non-disclosure agreement!

If we’re talking about a nutritional supplement, the best thing to do would be to approach a national chain supplement supplier and forge a deal to distribute your patent. Vitamin World, GNC, etc. These companies put new products on the shelf all the time.
If we’re talking about an physical item, the best promotional tools would be small ads in national magazines whose demographic specifically applies to your product, sales through skymall, and any televised promotion you could attain (interviews, Home Shopping Network, etc.).
If you have the product mass produced you can sell it yourself online by hiring a web design firm to set up a web site (www.thetop10webdesigners.net), setting up a “virtual office” (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_office), and then setting up an account with a shipping service like DHL, or Fedex to ship it for you.
Hope that helps!
